Look what I found at my local Friends of the Library book sale!
A like-new paperback copy of Testing Miss Malarkey by Judy Finchler! It is listing on Amazon for $6.95, but my almost new copy was only a whopping fifty cents! If you remember, I wrote about the Miss Malarkey books in THIS POST. It is seriously the most fun, fun, fun book to read to your friends prior to state testing.
I already own two copies, but I just couldn't leave it on the shelf. Especially not when it was like new and only fifty cents! So, I thought that maybe my blog friends would like to win this copy. Yup, it's another giveaway! However, it would be kind of boring to just give away a used book. I decided to jazz it up a little and make it a St. Patrick's themed prize. Here is the loot!
Included will be:
- 1 like-new copy of Testing Miss Malarkey
- The two bookmarks I showed you yesterday!
- 1 package of St. Patrick's Day Stickers
- 1 shamrock magnetic note pad
- 1 pair of St. Patrick's Day themed socks
- 1 very, very cheesy imitation silk shamrock scarf :-D
- 1 green box of Gourmet Jelly Beans from Trader Joe's
I threw in the scarf and socks because if you are a teacher there is just no escaping the holiday themed clothing items on occasion! If you would like to win this little pile of goodies, just do the following:
1. Leave a comment! Say anything! One comment per a person, please.
2. Be in the United States. I love, love, love that I have blog friends visiting from other countries, but my little teacher salary just can't support international shipping!
3. If you are feeling it, please follow my blog. While that would be appreciated, you don't have to follow to win the loot. :-) Everyone is welcome to enter.
The give-away closes on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time. I will randomly pick a winner from the comments and post that winner on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
Creative bookmarks! So cool to use paint strips. Thanks for sharing.

Even though I teach high school, I'm still considering reading "Testing Miss Malarkey" to my kids right before their biology end of course exam!
ReplyDeleteI have to teach a unit on "how to take the test" in the spring (sad, huh?) and that book would be great. I also think those bookmarks are awesome!

ReplyDeleteI love, love this book! I always read it to my 4th/5th graders since I loop with my students. My kids totally get a kick out of this book.....we even do a fiction unit study on it while we're at it and do some practice test questions on the book.

ReplyDeleteIt's so nice of you to have this giveaway! I've never heard of Miss Malarkey. Off to read yesterday's post!
ReplyDeleteI love your enthusiasm for teaching! We need more like you in this profession!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading your blog since stumbling upon it via Pinterest. So many good ideas. I had not heard of the Miss Malarkey books until I read about them on your blog - I know, where have I been? Under a rock? What a lucky find at the FOL sale and so generous of you to share. Where did you find the scarf? My son's case manager is the founder and sponsor of Shamrock Club and I'd love to pick one up for her as an end of year/graduation gift since this is his last year with her.
ReplyDeleteHi Patti! No, you have not been under a rock! It would be impossible for us to all know every book and resource out there. That's what makes blogs so much fun. There's always something new out there to discover.
DeleteI got the scarf at a store called A.C. Moore. It's a chain of craft stores here in the northeast. I would imagine, if you don't have an A.C. Moore, you could check any craft store near you. They always seem to have a seasonal section full of fun stuff. Thanks!
I L-O-V-E your closet! I stayed after school one day, begging my MIL to take my 7 y/o son to karate, and I was able to spend a few hours after school cleaning out my disaster zone! Mine was like yours - stuff spilling out all over the place. My student teacher from last year (who is currently teaching at my school this year) lovingly referred to my closet as "binders and snacks." Because when you opened it, binders and snacks would come spilling out! Now mine is super clean as well. WAY TO GO! It feels SO GOOD! :)
ReplyDeleteI mad ethos Valentine bookmarks too...but I love your idea for other holidays. I am loving your blog! Totally inspired by you!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I am soooo excited! It looks like you have some great ideas. I love the list in the supply closet!
ReplyDeleteI love the bookmarks from yesterday's post! I want to my make them for my first graders. I am going to feature them in my weekly post "A Few of My Favorite Things" next Sunday. Thanks for doing this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThinking Out Loud
Great blog! Tanks for sharing! I enjoy reading!
ReplyDeleteI loved the idea of the paint chips as bookmarks...I saw the idea to late for Valentine's Day, but now I have plenty of time for St.Patty's Day :) Also, hoping to win the book, but if not, I'm def going to read it before testing. Thanks for all your great ideas!

I just found your blog through pininterest and I am DEFINITELY going to be following it. I also teach 5th grade. Your clean closet is an inspiration to me and I think I will try do dig into mine sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteHi! I've just discovered your blog, and I love how detailed you are. I'm a first year teacher in Virginia. I teach 4th grade this year and will hopefully be looping up to 5th with my class (budget cuts will be making that decision!) next year. Your detailed posts about some of your reading/language arts lessons/ideas are fantastic and I can't wait to use some of your ideas in my classroom. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I have used Testing Miss Malarkey before, but don't have my own copy. I would <3 to have it! I use stickers every day when I check the kids' planner for parent signatures, so I can NEVER have too many stickers. Thanks for all the work you put into your blog. You have inspired me to clean out my cupboard - I "live" in a portable classroom and have the one large rolling cabinet. It is, indeed, a mess. I need to get busy!
ReplyDeleteI was just about to order this book after reading your post about it the other day. I teach 1st graders who take a state test and it is so much pressure for my little ones. This books seems like such a great stress reliever!!! Thanks for the giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteI found you through a follower on Pinterest. My new passion (besides Pinterest) is reading teacher blogs. Being that I'll be in the classroom in less than a year, I love to glean what any genius I can from fellow teachers.
ReplyDeleteI recently found you through Pinterest, and now you are one of the start up tabs every time I get on the internet. Thanks for sharing your world :)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!

ReplyDeleteI love your blog! Thanks for such a fun prize- as if the content (of your blog) weren't prize enough! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think your blog is one of the best! I have actually shared it with my principal since we have implemented Reader's Workshop this year and many of the teachers (myself included) were feeling very uneasy with it! I have used SO many of your ideas and will continue to follow! I would like the book to read to my 5th grade before MCAS ELA begins next month!
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
What a great prize! Our state test is in 3 weeks. The book would be perfect!

ReplyDeleteI found your idea for power sentences on Pinterest. It brought me to your blog and I felt I was a kid in a candy store! I've been teaching 3rd grade in NJ for 8 years and I'm always looking for new ideas to help with state testing. This year will actually be the first year that I will not be in my class for testing because I'm expecting my first bundle of joy in May! I know this book would be a big hit in my class and I would love to win it before I leave!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and am loving it!!! I can't wait to here more about your classroom. Thank you for taking the time to share with all of us!
